What To Wear In Italy? So You Look And Feel Beautiful.

happy elegant

Everyone knows how famous is Italian fashion, and depending on what kind of traveler you are. You may have to pack a list of items that will make your trip less hectic and you’ll be free from deciding what to wear in Italy. Some people like to blend in other want to stand out. Well, you don’t want to dress exactly like Italian, you are there for fun and you have to be comfortable while doing that. Similarly, you have to honor Italian culture and obey the dress code (if any) there. This shows that regardless you are a tourist but you still honor the customs and traditions of that soil. Women are always way more conscious about fashion and what to wear than men, so here is a detailed list of what sort of clothes you need to pack before leaving your home for this epic journey.

Look For The Weather

The most important thing is to decide whether you’re visiting Italy in summer or winter. That is the first and foremost thing. You don’t want to drag your bag all the way across the country and find out that you pack for the wrong season, that will ruin all your plan. This may sound foolish like who forgets such a simple thing? But believe me, people do make such kind of silly mistakes. Depending on the days you’re visiting check the weather forecast as it will help you pack accordingly.

Wool And Linen

Everyone dresses based on two things comfort and to make an impression. No one wants to look strange in a crowd. Merino wool is a good option because it’s for both seasons, it traps the sweat inside and provides a warm feel in winters. Pack a few merino wool shirts of different styles for some nice pictures. The same goes for linen but the problem is that it gets wrinkles pretty quickly but on the other hand it’s the coolest fabric for Italian summers. Keep the prints simple so that you can wear them at any sort of gathering.

Shorts Will Be Your Best Friend

If you land in Italy in summer then you’ll notice that regardless of gender and age Italians love shorts. When it some to shorts, go crazy as there is no one to stop you. They take less space and you don’t like your sweaty legs in jeans. Pack some colorful shorts that go with every outfit and don’t worry about the thighs or people staring at you because shorts are like a pretty common thing there.

Pack Something Formal

In Venice and Rome, there are a lot of fancy restaurants some of them are a must-visit and you don’t want to look like a hippy while visiting such places. My advice is to pack one or two formal dresses that make you feel like a lady. If you are here on a honeymoon then this formal and elegant dressing will be perfect for a nice evening. Some hotels even demand proper attire and won’t allow people in shorts and even jeans. If you’re planning a date at such 5-star hotels then my advice is to pack a dress for it.

Protect Your Eyes

You have to walk while visiting Cathedrals and other open tourists spots and for this, you have to protect your eyes. Pack a pair of sunglasses. Now it depends on you, personally, I’m fine with my sports glasses but depending on what kind of person you are, buy a fancy pair of shades. Also, pack sunblock as these open monuments and parks could burn your skin even in winter. No one likes an unwanted tan.

Don’t Restrict Yourself

Till now you may get the idea that Italy is not a strict country following specific dress codes. Pack a few items that you want like jackets, gowns, coats, for some great pictures or just because you want to wear them. People don’t care about your flashy red tight jeans, you might encounter pretty bizarre-looking styles. Italians encourage new styles and you may see by yourself the versatility in their fashion.

Best Shoes For Italy

Before telling you what shoes you’ll need, you have to decide the kinds of things you’re doing in Italy. If you’re going for a hike or doing a lot of sightseeing then you should pack some sneakers or joggers for this purpose. Most famous places require long walks and you need comfortable shoes that might suit your requirements and match well with your attire so you won’t have sore feet in the morning. Ankle boots, canvas shoes, and sandals are best for the above-mentioned purposes.  These are simple, stylish, and comfortable.

A Small Handbag For Daily Usage

When you’re on the streets you need all your important things like a camera, mobile charger, documents, make-up kit, and other things on the go but still, you wish to carry as little as possible so that it will be a minimum burden for you. Trade your bulky backpack for a small handbag as you can easily squeeze all the important things in it and can comfortably carry it all the way. Always pick a handbag that has a zipper in it because pickpocketing is common in major cities of Italy.

Other Accessories

Make sure to pack 10 to 15 outfits in such a way that you can interchangeably wear them, this helps you packing as minimum as possible. Also, pack some bracelets as few people don’t like empty wrists. A scarf is very important because it is kind of disrespectful to visit holy places like churches or other religious places without having your head and shoulders covered. They are pretty easy to carry and won’t take much place in the handbag. Hats could save you from sweat and heat from the sun also if you don’t want to wash your hair someday, a hat is excellent at hiding messy hairs. All these things might come in handy. These small touchups will make you glow and stand out a bit.
