How To Spend Two Weeks In Italy: 14 Days Italy Itinerary

Montepulciano

Italy is known as the heart of the Mediterranean Sea. It’s one of the beautiful and most majestic places in the world with full of breathtaking experiences. This 14-day itinerary will provide you sufficient knowledge about how you’re going to spend your next two weeks, covering all the major cities and tourists’ spots. You can start your journey from Rome, followed by Tuscany and Cinque Terre for Pisa tower and hiking trails, and have a lovely ending in Milan and Venice.

DAY-1

As most of the flights land in Rome, so that’s where you’ll start your trip from. Rome is the Capital of Italy and you need to hustle because you only have two days in Rome. Start by visiting the colosseum. My advice here is to book a guided trip if you want to get a good knowledge of this place. They tell you about its history and the brave gladiators. It’s a busy place so make sure to have online reservations.

The next stop will be the Trevi fountain and you can easily walk from the colosseum. You may also see various sculptures and monuments and some famous art galleries along the way.

DAY-2

On the second day, you just have one place to visit, it’s the Vatican museum. If there is one place that offers both ancient bits of knowledge along with modern art, it’s the Vatican museum which is a masterpiece of Michael Angelo. You’ll get profound knowledge about ancient history and have a good time here but make sure to book online tickets or book a spot in a tour group to ease yourself from the hustle.

DAY-3

Dedicated your third day to the Pantheon. An ancient Roman temple converted to church holds a special place in the hearts of the Italian community. A great work of architecture and is stunning from both inside out. This place is free so you might face some crowds and to counter this thing, try visiting it as soon as it opens, so you can peacefully enjoy this place.

DAY-4

The next stop is Florence, it’s better to reach there by train as it’s the same time as compared to a plane. No matter how many days you spent here, every day you’ll find something new. Here you can visit the famous grand Florence cathedral. It started in 1436 and was completed in the 19th centenary, it’s the most celebrated cathedral in the world and you must have to visit to get amazed by its ancient architecture. Followed by Ponte Vecchio which is a historical bridge famous for many quaint shops on its sides. The earliest recording shows that it was built in 996 but no one knows its true origins.

Completed in 1372 and leaning from 100 years. You can also visit the Baptistery and Duomo that will help you understand the origins of this city. To lay off some steam end your trip in Cinque Terre and explore the beautiful town or wander around the harbor.

You next day will be entirely dedicated to hiking towards the scenic beauty of Sentiero Azzurro. It’s a 12km hike and it’s up to you if want to go all the way or want to do some segments. The good news is you can get a cable train back at any point. My advice is to go to the top to get a beautiful overview of the city and enjoy the sunset.

DAY-10

Your last day in Cinque Terre had to be a blast. After hiking, you can treat yourself by going for a boat ride or go swimming and have fun at the beach. This place has 5 colorful towns the building are painted in vibrant colors that make these towns intriguing to the eyes. A walk in the streets and enjoying some seafood would be a really good option.

DAY-11 AND 12

From Cinque Terre get a train and reach Milan in three hours. After Rome, this is my favorite city. The best way to start exploring Milan is by visiting the Brera district. Long walks in peaceful and relaxing streets help you regain the energy from your long trip. The perfect way to run away from crowds and just sink in the ancient architecture, wonderful sights, and smells of mouthwatering food. Enjoy a cup of coffee with locals after visiting the art galleries. Also, visit Duomo and Da Vinci’s last supper one of the crowded tourist attraction.

DAY-13 AND 14

From Milan, you can reach Venice via train and spend your last two days in this place. It’s called the city of love, many films are shot here and it’s a perfect honeymoon destination. Visit the Dodges Palace, climb the Campanile and visit the St Marks Basilica and the most important musical cruise in the canal. If you can afford it, try the Gondola ride as it is hard to resist since were in Venice. A ride in Vaporetto, the water taxi is the best and cheapest way to travel around. You can end your trip by having a fancy dinner at a restaurant of your choice with your loved one and enjoy the Italian cuisine.
